On September 21 and 22, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao held a forum on emerging strategic industry development, to listen to comments and suggestions from economic and technolgical experts . Vice Premier Li Keqiang and Hui Liangyu, State Councilor Liu Yandong, State Councilor and State council Secretary-General Ma Kai, 47 academicians of CAS and CAE, professors, experts, and principals of enterprises and associations as well attended the conference, offering advice and suggestions on developing new energy, energy-saving and environmental protection, electric vehicles, new materials, new medicines, bio-breeding and information industry. Premier Wen Jiabao exchanged comments with the attendee related strategic directions of industries, technical fields, development layout, scientific research and policy support, etc.
In the meeting, Premier Wen Jiabao emphasized we should select and develop emerging strategic industries with international perspective and strategic mind, with a view to improving national scientific and technological strength and national overal  strength, and leading to technological and industrial innovation. We must fully prepare strategic decision-making reserve, scientific and technological innovation reserve,leading talents reserve and industrialization  reserve, which determine the future of China.
CISRI Chairman Gan Yong reported the development in the field of new materials, highlighting transportation materials for high-speed railways and large passenger aircrafts, new energy materials for construction and power saving, outlooking the broad market prospect of new materials, the excellent energy-saving features and the obvious environmental effects. Chairman Gan presented samples of the green energy-saving amorphous alloy with 10000 tonnage class.
With the long-term support of National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Science and Technology of PRC, CISRI has succeeded in research and development of new type soft magnetic electrical materials amorphous alloy strips industrialization, being the development basis of applying amorphous materials in large scale in electrical and electronics industries and exploring efficient energy-saving products. Now China has been the world’s second country with industrial capacity of amorphous strips. 
Chairman Gan put forward two suggestions. One is to expedite promoting the implementation and application of amorphous distribution transformers in the grid system, and introduce related incentive policies of promoting amorphous products. The other is to timely and efficiently layout industrialization development of high-performance amorphous motor products, and break through a series of key technologies of amorphous motors of new energy vehicle drive motors and energy-saving appliances.
