By the time of March 2007, the China Iron and Steel Research Institute Group´s total staff number has reached 7489, among which 2688 are regular staff. The regular staff include 1889 professionals, 6 academicians of CAS(Chinese Academy of Sciences) and CAE(Chinese Academy of Engineering), 23 middle-aged and young experts with outstanding contributions , 306 experts entitled to Government Special Allowance(GSA), 2 candidates for state-level New Century National Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talent Project, 47 PhD candidate supervisors, and 103 Master candidate instructors.

Among the 1889 professionals, 750 and 195 enjoy vice-senior and senior titles, respectively. The numbers of staff with doctoral, master, and bachelor degrees have reached 122, 430 and 858, respectively.
